When you and my LLFs catch sight of your first robin, try sharing one of these rhymes with them:
Baby Robins
Five baby robins watch Daddy Robin soar; (hold up 5 fingers)
One baby leaves the nest, and now there are four. (thumb)
Four baby robins, high up in a tree;
One flies to catch a worm, and now there are three. (index)
Three baby robins had nothing to do;
One tried his new-found wing, and then there were 2.(middle)
Two baby robins frolicked in the sun;
Another robin chased a bug, and then there was one. (ring)
One baby robin, left all alone;
And this baby robin decided to stay home!
Robin Red Breast
Way up high, little robin flying just so.
(hands up high)
Quick down low for a worm he must go.
(hands down low)
With a wing on the left and a wing on the right,
(arms extended one at a time, left first, then right)
Fly to your nest for soon it will be night.
(arms flapping arms as if flying)
Little Robin Redbreast
Little Robin Redbreast
Sat upon a rail
(crouch like bird with 2 hands behind back like bird's tail)
Niddle noddle went his head
(nod head)
And wag went his tail.
(use hands to make tail wagging)
Niddle noddle went his head
And wag went his tail.
Way up high, little robin flying just so.
(hands up high)
Quick down low for a worm he must go.

Spring
This is the way the flowers sleep, (Make two fists)
Through the winter long.
This is the way the flowers grow, (slowly open hands)
When they hear the robin’s song. (Raise arms)
