Get Fit- Let's Get Moving!

In Tales for Twos, we read stories about MOVING our bodies. There are a lot of fun books out there like these three by Doreen Cronin- Bounce, Wiggle and Stretch. The cool SCANIMATION picture books are great too like Waddle and Gallop.

These are all short books where the little ones can actually GET UP and MOVE along with the book. So, they are perfect for this age group!

We jumped to Jim Gill's Jumping and Counting song  because jumping is great for our bones!.

Here are some fun chants:
Healthy habits are good for me, good for me, good for me
Healthy habits are good for me, All day long!

Other ideas-Eating vegetables, drinking milk, playing outside, sleeping and let them think of some other ideas too!

We are healthy little ones!
Watch us jump and watch us run!
Healthy bodies, healthy hearts!
We are winners from the start!

Lots of Good 'Rainbow of Food' Books

Last week, in Tales for Twos, we talked about the rainbow of foods we should eat each day. There are a lot of good books out now about this and here are a few that I used.

Brand new from Anita Lobel, 10 Hungry Rabbits- colors, counting and good foods to eat all wrapped into one great book!

This fun pull-and-pop book worked great for colors and guessing what yummy foods there are with those colors! Everyone in the room was able to yell out guesses based on the pictures of what foods were blue, red, yellow, green, etc.

Tales for Twos (age 2)

Scientists are regularly reporting new health benefits associated with fruits and vegetables. Eating more fruits and vegetables is a worthwhile goal. Eating a variety of different colors of fruits and vegetables every day is a new way of thinking about meeting the goal.

This is a great link for parents.

So, in TT this week, we are discussing nutrition, but more specifically eating a rainbow! The colors of vegetables and fruits that we should eat!

Tales for Twos (Age 2 with an adult) Please and Thank You

Mon. 9th through Wed. 11th at 10:30 - Same program each day

This week's theme is Please and Thank You. It's important as your ABCs. You must remember to say "thank you" and "please".

I will be introducing a new "5" song- 5 Green and Speckled Frogs. We've used Alice the Camel and 5 Little Ducks before and now we will have fun this session with frogs! Ribbit!

To help learn my LLFs names, I will use my bumblebee puppet and this little rhyme:
Tickle, tickle bumblebee, won't you say your name for me? It's great when we learn our library friends' names.
